No running water, electricity only when the sun is shining, and a “shower” outside with a bucket and scoop: At the off-grid farm La Serra near Besalú in Catalonia, young people from Germany, Italy and Spain experience how directly their everyday lives depend on the resources available. Under the motto “Bee Humble”, they explore sustainability, living in community and mental wellbeing. They also help to develop the site itself.
From 27 July to 7 August 2026, young people from Germany, Poland and Estonia gathered in Munich for their first international youth encounter as part of Generation Europe – The Academy. Together with six project team members from the three countries, they explored questions about democracy, participation and Europe’s future. One of their first decisions was to choose their own motto in a democratic process: “Be brave – take action – stay positive!”

What defines a public space? Who sets its rules, who has access, and who remains invisible? With these questions in mind, 30 young people from Germany, Italy and Greece came together for an international youth encounter in Larissa. Under the title ‘Youth Commons: Access (not) granted’, they spent almost two weeks transforming the Greek city into a laboratory for youth participation and artistic expression.
How can peace be established and sustained in Europe? Thirty young people from Germany, Italy and Finland explored this question. The outcome of this international youth encounter: impressive works of art, a podcast episode and plenty of motivation for future projects.

Verse & Vision is a youth exchange project that brought together three organisations from the network of Generation Europe – The Academy: Kids in Action (Greece), DUGA e.V. (Ukraine) and Witer e.V. (Germany). The three organisations have jointly developed a set of tools and methods using art to remain resilient in difficult times – and produced really impressive artworks!
Ready, steady, youth encounter! The local groups organised by Mediencooperative Steinfurt (Germany) and DUGA (Ukraine) travelled to their project partners in Telsiai, Lithuania. Since all three organisations are big fans of wilderness-based experiences, the programme and methodological flow of the camp was designed according to the principles of outdoor education.
After Italy and Portugal, now it’s Germany: for the third time in this programme phase, the local groups from Bochum, Rome and Évora have met for an international youth encounter. This year’s meeting took place in the centre of the Ruhr region in Germany. The young people documented their experiences in their own Encounter Newspaper. For twelve days, the small Hungarian town of Nagykovácsi was the centre of an international youth encounter. The gathering brought together young people from the local groups organised by Jugendakademie Walberberg (Bornheim, Germany), Szubjektív (Budapest, Hungary), and Maximilian-Kolbe-Haus DMK (Gdańsk, Poland).
