Generation Europe Ambassadors sind aktiv!

The Ambassador Network 2021–2025

The main aim of Generation Europe – The Academy is to motivate young people to get involved in society and to empower them to actively shape their living environment. During the 2021–2025 programme phase, Ambassadors were young people who had already taken part in an international youth exchange and who were particularly active and motivated. They were trained to take on responsibilities at all levels of the programme. In this way, they became mentors in their local groups, a link between youth leaders and local young people, and key advocates for the interests of young people in Europe.

The first Ambassador training programme, which consisted of various workshops and training sessions, was successfully completed in 2022. Even after that, however, the ambassadors from the participating organisations remained active not only within their local groups and project partnerships. They came together to continue their practical work as organisers of network activities and as multipliers. In addition, there was the Ambassadors’ Expert Group, which served as the information and coordination hub for the Ambassador network. With support and input from the network, the group developed a peer-to-peer guide, the Guide to Activism. All of this was made possible by the Strategic Partnership “Generation Europe: The Ambassadors”, co-funded by the European Union.

Advancing Methods in Youth Work

In order to further develop the methods and expertise for youth work with international and diverse target groups, professionals within the Generation Europe – The Academy network established the Competence Group Methods. The partnership Network for Active Improvement of Youth Work (NAIYW), which made this possible, was co-funded by the European Union. The main outputs of this collaboration are a total of five booklets, which are intended to serve as support and resources for the Community of Practice. In addition, a paper on civic education was published to promote non-formal European education and to avoid misunderstandings arising from differing experiences and interpretations of the term.

Lobbying and Advocacy

Within the Lobbying and Advocacy competence group, youth work professionals have also been working to improve the state of youth work in Europe. Through transnational meetings and decentralised efforts, they developed a long-term strategy that continues to shape our work to this day. In workshops, they also trained network members in how to carry out advocacy work. We have made the results of this process available in the form of a Community of Practice handbook.
