An Outdoor Journey through Time

Ready, steady, youth encounter! The local groups organised by Mediencooperative Steinfurt (Germany) and DUGA (Ukraine) travelled to their project partners in Telsiai, Lithuania. Since all three organisations are big fans of wilderness-based experiences, the programme and methodological flow of the camp was designed according to the principles of outdoor education.

Be the Change You Want to Live In

After Italy and Portugal, now it’s Germany: for the third time in this programme phase, the local groups from Bochum, Rome and Évora have met for an international youth encounter. This year’s meeting took place in the centre of the Ruhr region in Germany. The young people documented their experiences in their own Encounter Newspaper. Artistic Activism in Hungary

For twelve days, the small Hungarian town of Nagykovácsi was the centre of an international youth encounter. The gathering brought together young people from the local groups organised by Jugendakademie Walberberg (Bornheim, Germany), Szubjektív (Budapest, Hungary), and Maximilian-Kolbe-Haus DMK (Gdańsk, Poland). Feel Use Keep Power

Changing the world with art and creativity: for twelve days, the local group from Krea Youth Club in Bergisch Gladbach (Germany) welcomed young artists from Italy and Greece to a youth encounter. As part of Generation Europe – The Academy, the international group explored how young people can make use of their power in democratic systems. The result of the intensive work is a set of spectacular artistic performances, which was presented to the public at the end of the programme. The title of the project: ‘Feel Use Keep Power’.

Discussing at eye level, defeating hate speech

Getting involved locally while networking across Europe is a central goal of Generation Europe – The Academy. 35 young people from Barcelona (Spain), Munich (Germany) and Mragowo (Poland) are currently demonstrating how this is working out: They are gathering for twelve days in the Polish town Mrągowo on the edge of the Masurian Lake District. Now they have met with city mayor Jakub Doraczyński to discuss urgent issues.

From Pasta to Mämmi: Cultural Connections in Finland

Kokkola is a town on the west coast of Finland and the capital of the province of Keski-Pohjanmaa. From 20 to 31 July, committed young people from three European countries met here to spend twelve days exchanging ideas, planning and learning from each other. Nobody is an Island

What an exciting start to this year’s Generation Europe – The Academy international youth encounters: active young people from Thuringia (Germany), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) and Krzyżowa (Poland) met for twelve days in Puerto de la Cruz on the north coast of Tenerife. The international group worked together on concepts of democracy, the problems of mass tourism, climate change and civil courage.

Let’s Europe: Festival of Exchange

What does your own city have to do with Europe? In the run-up to the EU elections, the “Let’s Europe” weekend festival took place in Bochum on June 1st and 2nd, where the city council and civil society initiatives joined forces to highlight the many connections from Bochum to Europe and the world. And of course, the local group from Generation Europe – The Academy could not miss the event.
