The Munich local group of the international youth network “Generation Europe – The Academy”, which is coordinated by the Pädagogisches Institut – Zentrum für Kommunales Bildungsmanagement, decided to launch an action against the shift to the right after the state elections in autumn 2023.
The young people read the party manifestos of all the parties in the Bavarian state parliament and looked at the AfD manifesto in particular. Their aim was to create a performance that would make it clear to their audience what the AfD party programme says and what leading politicians of this party publicly express.
At “Spot on! Deine Bühne”, an open stage for young people in Munich, the auditorium fell silent as the young people confronted the audience with original quotes from AfD politicians. The presentation of selected sections of the party programme also stood for itself. When one young participant, aged 19, finally ended the presentation of the facts with the sentence: “We were so shocked after the last elections that we had to do something,” the performance was interrupted by prolonged spontaneous applause.
The group’s subsequent appeal to their audience to take advantage of the European elections in May 2024 to go and vote and talk to other people about the dangers of racism and right-wing ideas was also met with great approval from the audience.
